The Colorado River Simulation System (CRSS) model is developed and maintained by Reclamation's Upper and Lower Colorado River Basin regions in collaboration with CADSWES at University of Colorado, Boulder. This RiverWare model provides the simulations required to perform analysis and serves as the foundation for long term planning in the Colorado River Basin. It also provides all the data for the Post 2026 Operations Exploration Tool, which was built by Virga Labs and serves as the interface through which Reclamation is leading a formal planning process to identify new operating guidelines, or strategies, for Lake Powell and Lake Mead once current operating guidelines expire. In this tool users can explore tradeoffs and analyze various aspects of operational strategies, and can even create their own strategies to be modeled in RiverWare and analyzed in the tool. In order to enable users to create strategies to model and analyze, Virga Labs built a user interface where strategies can be created, modified, visualized, summarized, and then can be submitted for modeling. This presentation will focus on this Strategy Creation and Modification interface and how it translates the user inputted levers on the screen into RiverWare readable data for a model run. |
